The University of Baguio’s Center for Counseling and Student Development celebrated Guidance and Counseling Month last January 28, 2025, at the UB Cardinals Gym with the event theme: “Learning to Be: Building Your Professional Roadmap.” The activity aimed to advocate the importance of career pathing in the context of experiencing quality education. In addition, the vibrant activity showcased the creativity and collaboration of college and secondary students through their creative and interactive booths.

The event featured the annual booth competition and the mascot competition. For this school year, the School of Information Technology bagged the Best in Mascot award in the college level with their creative mascot BMO from Adventure Time; while the UB Science High School-ABM strand claimed the title with their mascot Ursula from The Little Mermaid, for the secondary level.

Apart from the featured mascots, the students came up with booths that highlighted distinct career opportunities that their program offers and for this category, the School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS) championed the creative presentation of their programs through hands-on activities in forensic science and criminalistics. The School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) was first runner-up where their immersive virtual reality experience provided unique experiences to the participants. For the secondary level, the UB High School-STEM strand was recognized as the champions, followed by the UB Science High School-STEM strand. Both winners showcased the wonders and mystery of the science field.

As a way of serving the community, the Guidance Month was utilized to provide career information to non-UBian students. Among the schools invited, students from Grace Baptist Academy and Phases Learning Center; along with faculty and staff from Benguet National High School graced the activity. Their participation created a collaborative atmosphere among educational institutions.
Overall, the event achieved its set objectives, leaving the participants informed and equipped as they continue navigating their professional roadmaps.
