The University of Baguio, in collaboration with the city government of Baguio, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Sister Cities Student Exchange Program. A prestigious program offering one (1) high school student the opportunity to travel to Hanyu, for a 7-day immersion into Japanese culture and academic life.

- Program duration: October 29 to November 4, 2026

Program details:
- Arrangement for housing shall be a homestay with a local Japanese family
- Academic and grades assessment of 80 and above
- Reciprocity: The chosen applicant’s family must be willing to host a student from Hanyu during their return visit to Baguio City next year
Qualifications:
- Open to Science High School and High School students
- Academic and grades assessment of 80 and above
- With an endorsement letter from the Principal, noted by the University President
- Physically fit to participate in program activities
- With no disciplinary records
- Willing to stay in Japan for seven (7) days
Application Requirements:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Accomplished Application Form
- Letter of Application (minimum of 500 words) addressing the following:
- interest in joining the Student Exchange Program
- academic background and achievements
- relevant skills, experiences, or projects
- how the program will contribute to your personal and academic growth
- how you plan to apply what you will learn after the program
- personal contribution to the development of programs, initiatives, or learning community
Waived Fees:
- Accommodation and Meals (covered by the City of Hanyu and host families)
Fees to be shouldered by participants:
- Airfare to and from Japan
- Academic Mobility Fee
- Visa processing fees
Program Benefits:
- Firsthand experience of Japanese culture and daily life through a homestay arrangement, fostering global citizenship and academic enrichment
