At this year’s Christmas Cantata, the University of Baguio, in collaboration with the City Government of Baguio, spread holiday cheer to a crowd of excited onlookers. The event, held on December 9, 2023, at the Rose Garden of Burnham Park, was a festive display of talent and skill by the University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES), High School (UBHS), and Science High School (UBSHS) students alongside the Performing Arts groups as they performed a variety of carols and hymns for the yuletide celebration.
The Christmas Cantata is an annual production that stems from a long-standing tradition that dates back to 1970. Despite a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the event returned successfully in 2022. In 2023, the production has returned in full force to spread holiday cheer.
The University of Baguio, the Baguio Tourism Council, and the City Government of Baguio, led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, collaborated on this year’s Cantata. The UB team comprised the Office of Student Affairs, Linkages Office, Campus Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Security Office, Procurement Office, Accounting Office, Medical Clinic, Management Information Systems, Risk Management Office, and the Research Innovation Extension and Community Outreach Office.
The university additionally worked with the School of Teacher Education, the Department of Liberal Arts Communication, and the School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Through the annual Cantata, the university hopes to continue cultivating the Christmas spirit among Baguio City residents throughout the season of giving. As Christmas approaches, may the days be ever merry and full of seasonal cheer!
