Upholding Excellence and Quality Assurance: UB receives 3-star QS Star University Ranking

A congatulatory art card for UB's recent 3-star ranking awarded by the QS Star University Ranking.

The University of Baguio once again reaches another milestone after it was officially awarded three stars overall in the QS Stars rating for 2026.

As an academic institution, it is imperative that it can uphold global standards in higher education. As the world continues to evolve year by year, keeping up with the needs of both learners and the industry that they will enter after graduation is key to ensuring that UB’s different schools and programs can offer the very best theoretical foundations and practical training that will build the necessary knowledge base and skills within the students. This continuous process of growth and development within the academe results in consistency when producing service-driven graduates who can serve both the local and global community with heart and competence.

Introducing the QS Stars University Rating System to the UB Community

The QS Stars ranking system was established in 2004 with the aim of thoroughly evaluating universities across the world in order to give students a clear vision of what choices they have at their disposal.

Using an in-depth framework to guide their system, QS Stars compares a university’s performance against a set of key criteria, and once the evaluation has concluded, awards stars based on their performance in the different categories Learning Experience, Employability Outcomes, Sustainability, Research and Innovation, and Global Engagement.

Maintaining Campus-wide Quality Assurance through International Ratings and Rankings

In the breakdown of the university’s rating, it was able to garner four stars in the following categories:

  • Employability – Graduate employment rate and reputation
  • Academic Development – Curriculum Innovation and Learning Support
  • Facilities – Modern Learning Spaces and Campus Infrastructure
  • Good Governance – Ethical Leadership and Robust Policies

Meanwhile, it received three stars in the following categories:

  • Teaching – Quality Instruction and Faculty
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – An Inclusive Learning Community
  • Social Impact – Community Engagement and Contributions

Combined, this gives UB an overall rating of three stars.

Beyond just another accolade, this achievement also encapsulates the university’s dedication to quality assurance in its auxiliary services as well. It shows that it has adequate facilities that can cater to its learners, and that it has a host of programs that allow both faculty and students to grow outside of academics, such as outreach activities that promote civic engagement and extracurricular activities that uphold a steady work-life balance.

It showcases the different non-academic offices and their dedication to ensuring that the university continues to be safe for all students. It also highlights the university’s continuous efforts to become a fully sustainable community as it gradually focuses on becoming ecologically conscious in its use of resources and the running of its services.

Congratulations to all of the hardworking staff members, from the faculty members to the office staff and of course the members of the University Management, for this remarkable achievement.

Here’s to a future of academic excellence!
