The University of Baguio has made history as the very first university in the Philippines to formally receive ISO 21001:2018 Certification, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence.
Targeted at educational institutions, ISO 21001:2018 focuses on setting standards for Management Systems for Educational Organizations or EOMS. Its goal is to ensure that integral policies and procedures are put in place to ensure that the institution being certified is able to meet the needs of students, staff, and other stakeholders.
UB started preparing for ISO Certification in November 2023. Through the combined efforts of the university’s Top Management, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Janice Kaylyn Lonogan, and the members of the university’s faculty and staff, the university was able to refine its policies and improve its operational efficiency to meet with the rigorous standards of ISO 21001:2018.
The official certification was formally bestowed on March 3, 2025, at the UB Centennial Hall by TÜV Rheinland Philippines, Inc.. The honor was conferred by Managing Director Mr. Tristan Arwen Loverers and Area Sales Manager Ms. Isabel Tiu.
Also in attendance was Ms. Juliet Piok, the Senior Education Program Specialist from the Department of Education, Division of Baguio. She extended her commendation for UB, acknowledging the university’s continuous commitment to advancing the educational sector in the city and in the Philippines.
The University of Baguio aims to continue setting the standards for the academic community, providing students at all levels with world-class education that can help them face the challenges of an ever-evolving world with ease and confidence.
