The University of Baguio, through the Research, Innovation, Extension, and Community Outreach (RIECO) and the Office of Student Affairs, in partnership with the Cordilleran Youth Center (CYC) and global organization Venture 2 Impact, conducted a training workshop on February 24, 2026, at the UB Alumni AVR. The workshop focused on Digital Storytelling for Youth Advocacy and Digital Branding for Student and Youth Initiatives, equipping university youth leaders with practical tools to strengthen their online presence and amplify their advocacies.

The training addressed the growing importance of digital communication in today’s media-driven environment. As news, advocacy, and public engagement increasingly relied on online platforms, participants were guided on how to present their initiatives clearly and strategically. The sessions emphasized that effective storytelling could connect local advocacies to wider audiences, expanding their reach and potential impact.

The workshop featured interactive activities that taught participants how to capture media attention, develop compelling narratives, and increase audience engagement. Students shared their personal experiences, collaborated across different organizations, and worked on outputs that reflected their respective advocacies. These activities encouraged connection and knowledge exchange among youth leaders from diverse backgrounds.

A key highlight of the event was the one-on-one coaching sessions. Participants presented their organizational challenges and advocacy goals to mentors, who provided tailored guidance and practical recommendations. The mentors were skilled volunteers from leading global companies, including Netflix, Apple, and other major software firms. Their professional experience in branding, design thinking, and digital strategy provided valuable insights into building effective and sustainable initiatives.

Throughout the discussions, a recurring message resonated among participants: “Skills and knowledge matter, but results come when you just do it.” The statement underscored the importance of taking action and applying learned strategies to create tangible outcomes.

The initiative reflected the University of Baguio’s continued commitment to holistic and transformative education. By expanding access to professional mentorship and fostering international collaboration, the activity aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality

Education) through widening participation in inclusive learning opportunities beyond the classroom. The partnership with Venture 2 Impact further supported Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening cross-sectoral and global collaboration that empowers students and advances community engagement.
