Bridging Knowledge: UB Libraries Donates 660 Law Books to MPSU

The University of Baguio library department is thrilled to share the wonderful achievement in advancing through academic and organizational endeavors, recently donating six hundred sixty (660) volumes of law books to Mountain Province State University (MPSU). In preparation and utmost support towards MPSU’s implementation and opening of the institution’s Juris Doctor Program, which is envisioned to eventually develop into a College of Law.

The binding initiative stemmed from a library benchmarking activity conducted on January 20, 2026, held at the University of Baguio. The visit was attended by Dr. Fely Akilith, Library Director of MPSU, and Atty. Evelyn Marrero-Moga, Director of the Human Resource Management Center.

During the benchmarking activity, Dr. Akilith formally coordinated with UB Library Director Mr. John Nigel Millare regarding MPSU’s request for law book donations. Following suit, the ceremonial turnover of the donated law books was held on February 9, 2026, during MPSU’s flag-raising ceremony.

UB Library Director Mr. Millare, together with Ms. Reyna Florendo, was formally invited to hand over the books. The occasion highlighted the spirit of academic collaboration and resource sharing between the two institutions. During the event, MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue expressed his sincere gratitude for the donation and affirmed that the law books would be carefully managed, responsibly preserved, and meaningfully utilized to help shape the minds of aspiring lawyers and future members of the legal profession.

Book Drive for Heightened Academic Support


With the initiative aiming to provide institutional and organizational support through accessibility to learning resources, the practice expressed the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):

  • Goal 4: Quality Education by improving access to legal learning resources and supporting the development of higher education programs

  • and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening inter-institutional collaboration and shared academic resources.

The donation underscores the University of Baguio Libraries’ commitment to supporting higher education institutions through resource sharing, fostering academic partnerships, and enhancing access to quality educational materials.
