Upholding Excellence through the Mid-year Assessment Meeting

The University of Baguio (UB) always strives to maintain consistent quality within its operations, ensuring that every service and function is executed to the highest standards at all times. Led by the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), the members of the Top Management – including the school deans, principals, office directors, and vice presidents – gathered at the Centennial Hall discuss the university’s performance during the first half of the academic year by thoroughly reviewing the accomplishments of the different sections of the Operational Plan (OP) and the Key Result Areas (KRAs).

The university’s main method of aggregating data, the UB ACCESS database, allows the different departments to submit reports upon approval and maintain an updated catalogue of information for reference.

As the relevant documents were cross-referenced against the Operational Plan for A.Y. 2026-2027, the panel of reactors in charge of reflecting on UB’s progress thus far consisted of the three university vice presidents: Dr. Johann Ben Bautista (Finance), Atty. Rommel Ayson (Administration), and Dr. Janice Kaylyn Lonogan (Academic Affairs).

Following the comprehensive breakdown of last semester’s accomplishments, the afternoon session then moved into the synthesis portion following a re-engagement activity led by Ms. Leny Estacio (Director, Center for Counseling and Student Development).

University president, Dr. Javier Herminio Bautista, guided the team through the strategic directions that the university will take when moving forward with its operational development. Guided by the theme “Integrative Assessment and Way Forward”, Dr. Bautista identified key plans for optimizing the university’s different office, academic, and administrative systems.

Once the mid-year assessment formally concluded, the members of the Academic Council convened for a meeting after the program.

Maintaining UB’s commitment to perfection through the mid-year assessment

UB’s mid-year assessment plays a crucial role in ensuring that the university’s administrative leaders can assess current strategies, identify gaps and challenges, and formulate strategic approaches that can strengthen coordination and compliance between the university’s different departments. This ensures strict adherence to ISO standards and maintains responsive action that aligns with strategic goals.

The insights provided by this engagement will serve as a crucial guiding roadmap for sustaining quality, enhancing efficiency, and advancing UB’s commitment to excellence, perfection, and quality education.
