During the 51st Founding Anniversary and 35th Annual General Assembly of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), held on December 10, 2024, at Novotel, UB once again proved its commitment to academic excellence and quality education.

Among 289 PACUCOA-accredited institutions nationwide, the University of Baguio was awarded as the Institution with the Highest Number of Accredited Programs in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). This achievement places UB on the brink of national recognition, with only five additional accredited programs needed to break into the Top 5 universities in the Philippines with the highest number of accredited programs—a testament to UB’s steadfast journey toward its vision.

Adding to this distinction, UB was also recognized as one of the 54 PACUCOA-accredited institutions granted Autonomous Status by CHED, a privilege awarded to only 77 schools across the country. Likewise, the University garnered 5th Place in the Search for the Best Community Outreach/ Extension Program. This milestone solidifies UB’s standing as a premier institution dedicated to delivering quality education in CAR and beyond.

Lonogan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, alongside key figures such as Dr. Donnavila Marie Panday, RIECO Director; Dr. Elton John Delos Santos, SON Program Chair; Ms. Alicia Rivera, UBLES Assistant Principal; and Ms. Violeta Apiles, STELA Faculty. Beyond attending the prestigious awarding ceremony, the UB team actively participated in insightful discussions revolving around the Panel Discussion theme “Employability of Filipino Graduates: What Can Be Done to Enhance It?” Their involvement underscores UB’s dedication to advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, ensuring learners are equipped with the skills needed to improve their lives and contribute to society.

The event featured prominent speakers who provided diverse perspectives on graduate employability:

Hon. Congressman Mark Go shared the Philippine Congress’ perspective.

Mr. Michael Godinez focused on “Power Skills” from the industry’s viewpoint.

Ms. Mandy Mok highlighted the role of ranking organizations, particularly Applied HE.

Hon. Jose Y. Cueto Jr. of the Professional Regulation Commission concluded the morning session with his insights, paving the way for an engaging Q&A segment.

The afternoon was equally enriching, with sessions including the Election of Board of Directors, presentations of the Chairman’s and Treasurer’s Reports, and a compelling talk on “English Communication Skills as an Employability Metric” by Mr. Andrew Milner. The event concluded with the commendation of institutions for their outstanding achievements.

As UB reflects on this milestone, the insights and learnings gained from this packed one-day event are set to inspire further enhancements in teaching and learning processes, as well as administrative support for educators and students. UB remains steadfast in its mission to deliver transformative education and solidify its place as a leader in academic excellence in the Philippines.
