The University of Baguio (UB), in partnership with the City Government of Baguio, continues to advance its commitment to student welfare through its active participation in the Free Meals for Youth Program, implemented under City Ordinance No. 652, series of 2025 and City Ordinance No. 96, series of 2023. The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) also commended UB for being the first higher education institution to fully comply with the requirements of the program. In recognition of this, the CSWDO increased the University’s allocation from 30 to 35 student beneficiaries.

As of the latest update, 31 UB students have been identified as potential beneficiaries of the program. Of these, 21 students have completed the necessary requirements and have been endorsed to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) for final evaluation, while the remaining students are in the process of complying.

Through its collaboration with NaktAyNay, UBanga, and Avenue, UB continues to uphold its dedication to student well-being and community partnership, advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

In preparation for the program’s commencement, the Office of Student Affairs, led by Director Dr. Froilan Aspa, held an orientation for grantees who were slated to receive the benefits of this initiative. During the event, the students conveyed their sincerest gratitude for this valuable program, reinforcing the importance of such active social support within the community. On the same day, the CSWDO also visited the campus and expressed their appreciation to UB for the timely implementation of the program.

The program was officially launched on November 13, 2025, accounting for 19 approved students who started receiving their free meals from two designated university concessionaries. Currently, there are still 2 students who are awaiting their interview, and 14 remaining slots out of the target goal of 35 students.
