UB-SNS advances healthcare education with Dr. Eric Ahn

The University of Baguio Linkages Office, in collaboration with the School of Natural Sciences (SNS), hosted a specialized seminar delving into Kim’s Safety Nervous System, or KSNS. The information session was led by Dr. Eric Ahn, Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) in Canada, and catered to 41 attendees, both students and faculty members, from the Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT).

The seminar opened with an overview of the clinical rationale behind KSNS, followed by a step-by-step demonstration of assessment and intervention techniques. Participants observed how KSNS can inform safer, more precise decision-making in therapy, emphasizing patient comfort, functional outcomes, and risk reduction during movement and manual handling.

Through his expert guidance, the attendees gained clearer frameworks for evaluating neuromuscular responses and applying KSNS-guided strategies in common therapy scenarios. The discussion underscored the importance of integrating evidence-informed methods with clinical judgment, reinforcing UB’s commitment to hands-on, competency-based healthcare education.

Activities such as these not only serve to expand the boundaries of UB’s educational coverage but also aid in its efforts to address the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It addresses Goal No. 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal No. 4: Quality Education by ensuring that the health education system in the university is robust and constantly evolving, allowing both professionals in the academe and future health practitioners to cultivate skills that will address the needs of a constantly evolving global community.

It also addresses Goal No. 17: Partnerships for the Goals, nurturing relationships with practicing professionals and institutions that can help UB’s development of existing and developing educational systems.
