Shaping the Future: UB Holds BRIDGE Industry and Internship Fair for Students

Other Posts

The University of Baguio always seeks to provide new opportunities for students that will open them up to new horizons. As students go through their academic journey and mature into budding young professionals, it’s integral for them to build connections within their field of practice. Whether it’s through their local internship or an international cultural exchange program, the university is always looking for ways to support its students through every step of their journey.

The recently concluded BRIDGE Industry and Internship Fair was another successful foray in bringing the professional world closer to the students of UB. Standing for Broadening Reach through International Development and Global Experience, the event saw the university’s industry partners in different fields of specialization setting up tables and receiving students with smiles and welcoming arms. From local businesses such as Love Radio and the Baguio Country Club to overseas-based companies like ZIP Travel and Camosun College, the fair was a chance for students to interact with industry professionals to glean insights into the future of their academic and professional careers.

After a ribbon-cutting ceremony with UB President Engr. Javier Herminio Bautista and guest of honor Ms. Jennifer Montero (Southeast Asia Regional Manager for Camosun College), the industry delegates gathered at the front of the Cardinals’ Gym to sign a Commitment Board promising to support the university in its pursuit of fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As industry partners, they not only commit to uplifting the students, but they also pledge their commitment to ensuring that the university positively impacts the community of Baguio through the attainment of the SDGs. This collaboration is in observance of SDG No. 17, Partnerships.

After the signing of the board, the floor was opened up to students, allowing them to explore at their leisure and interact with the organizations that they could be working with in the near future. Students eagerly fielded their questions and inquiries, and the industry partners all offered their guidance with much enthusiasm. Many students were able to envision themselves as local and international interns, or as cultural exchange students with the goal of being able to experience the world over their short-term summer vacation.

All in all, the event was an enriching experience for all students involved. It was successful in helping students to solidify their futures, giving them countless opportunities to engage with the professional world that they will one day be a part of. As UB continues to support promising young individuals in their journey to become exceptional individuals, the university hopes to continue holding events such as the BRIDGE Industry and Internship Fair to help build up and solidify the dreams and aspirations of its students.
