Enhancing Learner Support Systems Through Home Visitation Initiatives

Written by Jenel Mae Baniaga

After a period of transition and adaptation to the evolving educational landscape brought about by the new normal, the Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD), in partnership with the University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES), has officially reinstated its Home Visitation Program. On the afternoon of February 11, 2026, three learners were visited in their respective homes within Baguio City and the Benguet area by the designated teachers and school staff. The visit served as a platform for dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaborative problem-solving between the home and the school. More so, the parents were given the opportunity to share insights, clarify concerns, and actively participate in planning strategies that support their child’s academic progress, socio-emotional well-being, and overall development. Consequently, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to holistic learner development and strengthened school–family collaboration.

Furthermore, through this program, the Guidance Associate, Foundation of Discipline (FOD), class advisers, and concerned subject teachers engaged directly with parents and guardians to gain a comprehensive understanding of each learner from the home perspective, which strengthens collective responsibility in child development. By gathering relevant background information, which ranged from academic routines and behavioral patterns to family dynamics and developmental context, the educators were better equipped to implement appropriate interventions that protect vulnerable groups and promote a sense of shared identity and community between the school and families.

The reinstatement of the UBLES-CCSD Home Visitation Program marks a vital step toward bridging home and school in support of every learner’s growth. Through open dialogues, the initiative addresses academic and socio-emotional needs and promotes shared responsibility. As educators and families continue this collaborative journey, the program promises enduring positive impacts on learners, reinforcing the University of Baguio’s dedication to holistic education.
