UB Conducts 2026 Annual Assessment and Planning for Institutional Growth and Strategic Alignment

On June 17, 2026, management team members and notable representatives from the University of Baguio gathered for a day filled with institutional reflections, directives for review, and goal setting and alignment during the annual assessment and planning activities for the upcoming academic year.

Hosted and facilitated by the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), forty-five (45) participants from the activity aimed to assess the tenured accomplishments of the university, further emphasizing the evaluation progress toward strategies and established targets, all while identifying priority actions for continued institutional development down the line.

Attended by the university president, vice president for academic affairs, vice president for administration, vice president for finance, directors, deans, principals, executive secretaries, and organizers, the activity served as a vital platform to align institutional efforts along with the management’s development agenda and quality management standards on relevant data, progress updates, accomplishments, and areas for improvement across academic and administrative operations.

Institutional Development Planning: Data Presentations and Targets for 2026

The morning session activities sought compartmentalization. of the proposed Institutional Development Plan 2025–2030, which monitors the school year 2025–2026 in line with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) mandate, the collection of data, progress, and areas for improvement across academic and administrative efforts.

Monitoring the IDP 2025-2030 enabled UB management to assess the extent to which its strategic directives, major outcome areas, performance indicators, and institutional targets had been implemented. Supported by further discussion highlighting the importance of compliance, documentation, process effectiveness, and evidence-based decision-making in sustaining the university’s quality management system.

A prioritized part of the activity was on the assessment of issues, insights, and actions, wherein the management was allowed to raise concerns, share observations, clarify data, and recommend appropriate action points. Encouraging collaborative dialogue, strengthening the shared responsibility of offices and schools in achieving institutional goals.

The afternoon session featured updates, directions, reminders, and priority action areas under their respective offices, given by the vice presidents. Followed by institutional guidance and leadership direction from President Bautista on the continued implementation of the university’s plans and strategic initiatives.

The activity directly benefited the university’s internal stakeholders, particularly the academic and administrative units, by providing them with a clear understanding of institutional performance and priority areas for action. Through the participation of all management team members, the assessment and planning process promoted accountability, transparency, and stronger coordination among offices.

The annual assessment and planning reflects UB’s ongoing engagement with its partners and stakeholders, ensuring institutional plans, quality assurance mechanisms, and evidence-based monitoring, reinforcing the commitment to strengthening collaborations with partner institutions, government agencies, industry organizations, alumni, students, and the community. These collaborations benefit the University’s programs in teaching, research, extension, internationalization, student development, employability, and institutional progress.

Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the event emphasized that planning and assessment are not merely compliance activities but rather essential processes that help the university strengthen its systems, improve services, and sustain its commitment to excellence.

Overall, the Annual Assessment and Planning served as an important mechanism for reviewing accomplishments, addressing gaps, identifying opportunities, and setting directions for the coming academic year. UB aims to implement its Institutional Development Plan 2025–2030. Through this plan, it remains committed to pursuing quality education, responsive governance, meaningful partnerships, and continuous improvement.

Through the active participation of its management team and the sustained support of its partners and stakeholders, the university moves forward with a stronger sense of direction, accountability, and shared purpose.
