At the end of every semester, the University of Baguio (UB) gathers its graduating students at the Cardinal’s Gym to send them off for the next chapter of their lives.
This January 23 and 24, 2026, the graduating batch from the different schools donned their caps and gowns for their final march before receiving their coveted diplomas. Graduation is a significant milestone in the life of every student; it commemorates the years of hard work and dedication that they’ve put into their academic journey, and it also ushers in the beginning of a new era where they serve as highly competent professionals.
On Friday, the students began the commencement exercises with the baccalaureate mass, which is usually held the day before the graduation proper. The mass continues to be a sacred part of Catholic graduation ceremonies, encouraging thanksgiving for such a joyous occasion and bringing the community together in solemn celebration.
A key highlight of the event was the address of the baccalaureate speaker. Always delivered by a chosen member of the university’s alumni body, the speaker’s address is a brief glimpse into the life that awaits UB students once they leave the halls of the university: the work, the challenges, the accolades, and above all, the career success.
This year’s baccalaureate speaker, Ar. John Derick Dasugo, emphasized the importance of allowing yourself the grace to continue growing, and to face the future with pride and strength.
Tomorrow, the world will ask: Are you brave enough to SKETCH THE UNKNOWN? Humble enough to REVISE THE PLAN? And strong enough to STAND FIRM when the waters rise?

Saturday morning marked the official beginning of the commencement exercises. The day was bright and pleasant as students arrived in their formal wear, graduation gowns secured around their shoulders and caps tucked snugly under their arms. They gathered in the halls for a final time, their marching partners in tow as they reminisced with their batchmates and instructors.
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the university and its faculty, as well as the different offices and their staff who continue to run auxiliary services that form the cornerstones of every student’s journey. Along with the steadfast love and encouragement from family, friends, and loved ones, the students have been well-equipped with the guidance and assistance that they need to navigate the challenges and opportunities that await them beyond the academe.
Congratulations, Class of 2025! May your future be bright and filled with opportunity! As you step into this new chapter of your lives, be sure to carry with you the lessons you’ve learned, the friendships you’ve forged, and the memories that have shaped you into the competent and service-driven individual that you are today!
