As a clear reflection of its consistent commitment to discipline, leadership, and national service, the University of Baguio was formally honored by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for its “outstanding institutional support” during the 90th AFP Founding Anniversiary.

The university received a prestigious Plaque of Recognition from the General Headquarters at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The award highlights the university’s vital role in mentoring and supporting C/LTC Jenny Rose L. Palangdao 1CL PA ROTC, who earned the distinction of being named the AFP ROTC Female Cadet of the Year 2025. Ms. Palangdao’s award was an official recognition of her dedication and discipline to her training, showcasing UB’s goal of nurturing competency and integrity within its student body.

The recognition ceremony was a momentous occasion, with the award being received by University President Dr. Javier Herminio Bautista, alongside Dr. Janice Kaylyn K. Lonogan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Charesma Grace Lud-ayen, Dean of the School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS). The Plaque of Recognition was given by the AFP General Headquarters with the support of LTC Jeofrey Codiamat (INF) PA, the Director of the 1491st Community Defense Center. Also present at the event were Brig. Danilo Dupiag, PA, who personally congratulated the university leaders for its high standards in education and character building, noting that such national achievements are a direct result of the university’s excellence in molding students into “proud products and exemplars” of leadership and civic duty.

The plaque, signed by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., serves as a formal acknowledgment of the strong environment the university provides for its cadets to excel on a national stage.

This milestone was witnessed and supported by the dedicated faculty of the School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS), including instructors Dr. Filbert Patrick F. Tad-awan, Dr. Warren Moyao, and Mr. Immanuel Jesus A. Fernandez. Also present to mark the achievement were LTC Epifanio Gaminde VI (FS) PA (RES), UBROTCU Group Commandant, and LTC Jeofrey Codiamat (INF) PA, Director of the 1401st Community Defense Center (CDC).

By producing the top female cadet in the country for 2025, the University of Baguio reaffirms its legacy as a premier institution that successfully integrates academic excellence with the development of disciplined, values-driven leaders for the Philippines.
