On October 10, 2025, the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), successfully conducted a webinar via zoom, which aimed to enhance communication skills and promote ethical academic practices.
Organized by the Linkages Office, the ETEEAP WRITE RIGHT activity integrates its program design to provide lifelong learning opportunities for Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) students and university employees. With a total of one hundred and seventy (170) participants from the institution, along with representatives from partnered universities, the webinar provided valuable insights to equip participants with practical techniques for enhancing clarity, accuracy, and professionalism in academic writing, thereby strengthening their confidence and competence in producing well-structured and effective academic papers.


ETEEAP WRITE RIGHT: CITE SMART, USE TOOLS RESPONSIBLY
The webinar opened with a message from Dr. John V. Balanquit, Dean of the School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA), who warmly welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and academic excellence. The session featured Dr. Michelle P. Ranges, Program Chair from the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA), as the resource speaker, wherein she focused on three key areas of academic communication:
- Effective Email Communication by emphasizing professionalism in written correspondence, including clarity, respect, and proper tone
- Academic Writing that highlights the value of formality, objectivity, and evidence-based writing supported by credible sources, and—
- Responsible Use of AI Tools that encourage participants to maximize digital tools, such as ChatGPT and Grammarly, for responsible and ethical integration/consumption. Ensuring accuracy, originality, and transparency in academic work
Dr. Ranges also encouraged participants to combine above-standard critical thinking and creativity with technology to produce credible, ethical, and high-quality academic outputs. The Q&A session allowed participants to clarify questions on research writing, professional communication, and AI ethics and laws. The exchange of ideas made the discussion practical, engaging, and relevant to the participants’ learning needs.
The session concluded with expressions of appreciation for all UB participants and partnered institutions, particularly Mountain Province State University. Expressed by the Linkages Director, Ms. Melanie Rulla Saro, she extends her gratitude to Dr. Ranges for sharing her expertise on the topic, along with the ETEEAP team and units for their commitment to promoting accessible and quality education.



RESPONSIBLE WRITING FOR THE FUTURE
The event highlighted the importance of aligning educational initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 4 on quality education and up-skilling for pedagogical/student-oriented practices and core ideas in creative and professional writing, and number 9, which tackles upkeep industry innovation, that encourages everyone to continue embracing digital transformation, collaboration, and innovation.
The participating demographic from the webinar (eighty one-point two (81.2) percent) expressed their satisfaction with the endeavors of the event. Focusing on the effective delivery of content, and the overall structure that ties in well with good organization metrics.
