In a world where global understanding has become more important than ever, the University of Baguio High School, alongside the University of Baguio Science High School and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Baguio Chapter, embarked on a remarkable journey through the annual Scout Exchange Program with the International Youth Community of South Korea. This initiative offered more than just an educational trip; it provided our young delegates with an unforgettable cultural experience and the chance to form genuine connections that transcend nationality and language.

Preparing for a Life-Changing Experience
The invitation of the International Youth Community was met with excitement and great anticipation. A total of 11 student delegates were chosen, five from the University of Baguio High School and six from the Science High School. They were accompanied by two dedicated faculty members, Ms. Ana Lyn Dingli and Mr. Mark Neil Bosway. Representing the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Baguio Chapter was Mrs. Gina Rodriguez, a figure of encouragement and leadership for the young Scouts.
As with any international endeavor, careful planning was essential. Behind the scenes, faculty advisers worked diligently to ensure a smooth and successful journey, supported wholeheartedly by the University.

The Journey Begins
The journey officially began on June 3, 2025. The group departed Baguio City at 1:00 PM via bus, bound for Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Although the ride to Manila was long, the excitement in the air was undeniable. After four hours of air travel, they
had landed in South Korea, tired, perhaps, but energized by the possibilities that awaited them.

A Week of Culture, Connection, and Discovery from June 4-11, 2025
From the moment the delegation stepped onto Korean soil, they were welcomed with warmth and sincerity. The Korean adult leaders, led by the esteemed Dr. Kim Jinouk, opened their arms and hearts to the visiting Scouts. Throughout their stay, the students were immersed in South Korea’s rich traditions, customs, and education system.
One of the highlights of the visit was the trip to the Buan Council, which included a meaningful meeting with the Council Chairman and a visit to the site of the most recent World Jamboree.
The program wasn’t only about sightseeing it was about understanding. Every conversation, every shared meal, and every cultural performance became a lesson in empathy and awareness. Friendships formed during this exchange may have started across language barriers, but they blossomed through shared laughter, curiosity, and kindness.

More Than Just a Trip
The Scout Exchange Program wasn’t just a trip; it was a journey of personal growth and collective purpose. It reminded every scout of their role in building a more compassionate, connected world. The Scouts returned to Baguio not only with tokens and stories but with broader perspectives and a renewed sense of responsibility.
The University of Baguio is proud to support such programs that empower students to become ambassadors of goodwill. As these young leaders continue their academic and personal journeys, may they carry forward the lessons of this exchange, embracing diversity and always choosing to lead with understanding.
This program is one of UB’s initiatives to foster the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely No. 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and No. 17: Partnerships for the Goals. It allows the university’s scouts to build their character and develop a deeper understanding of the global community, which is knowledge that they can then use to build a better local community in the Philippines and in Baguio City. It also allows UB to maintain its connections with organizations such as the International Youth Community of South Korea to pursue the attainment of the other goals.
