The University of Baguio, through the Center for Counseling and Student Development Office, geared up the graduating students towards sustainable career lifestyles through the recently concluded career and placement activities for the first semester. The graduating students representing the diverse population of the school community were given equal opportunity to participate in a series of career-related activities.

As a jump start, a pre-employment webinar with the theme: “Victorious: Pursuing Professional Competence” was facilitated last October 14 ,2023 from 8:00 in the morning to 12:00 noon via Zoom video conferencing platform. Through the topics expounded by the credible speakers, the relevant skills for employment and decent jobs were given emphasis.

Then as a way of appraising how much was gleaned from the pre-employment webinar, the schedule for mock interviews was coordinated with the different schools. The mock interview, facilitated from November 8-11 and 14-15, 2023, served as an opportunity for the graduating students to experience a simulated job interview. Before showing up for their interview schedule, the students were required to submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae. After the simulated interview, the students were given immediate feedback to help them recognize areas to be improved.

Through this exposure, the university displayed evident support for the target of SDG #4:Quality Education, that all learners are subjected to an effective learning environment. In the context of the career and placement activities, the effective learning focused on career readiness and career lifestyles as future professionals.
