UB Garners Glowing Recognition at CHED-ISA ICONS Awards

The University of Baguio brought home two awards at the much anticipated Internationalization Champions of Nations Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2023 held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on October 6.

The event, held by the Commission on Higher Education – International Affairs Staff (CHED-IAS), recognized the exemplary Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) that championed the global reputation for its commitment to intercultural learning, sustainable development, and global citizenship.

The university was recognized for ranking 101-200 in the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) and for garnering the 2nd Runner-Up spot in the Global Citizens category among the PHEIs.

The University of Baguio never ceases its pursuit of excellence, always striving to cultivate a learning environment that continues to produce empowered professionals and contribute meaningful change to the community. The Linkages Director, Ms. Melanie Rulla Saro, received the awards on behalf of the University of Baguio and UB President Engr. Javier Herminio D. Bautista.

Also recognized during the awarding ceremony was the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) branch of CHED for being the Champion in Outstanding Internationalization Initiatives across all the regional branches, Under the tutelage of Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr., Director IV and Jimmy Guisdan Catanes, Education Supervisor II,  CHED-CAR was recognized for trailblazing programs and projects that promote internationalization among universities in the Philippines.

The ICONS Awards continue to support the development and internationalization of universities across the country, acknowledging the contributions of educational institutions towards building a more sustainable and prosperous future for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
