February 8, 2023 – The Kapihan with UB press conference marked the start of the University of Baguio’s 75th anniversary celebration with the theme “Celebrating Tatay and Nanay’s Legacy”. The event was held at the UB Centennial Hall and was attended by members of the media, lead by the Philippine Information Agency through its regional director Ms. Helen Tibaldo. The press conference aimed to give the media an insight into the history, current state, and plans for the 75th anniversary celebration of the university.
The panel consisted of key figures from the University of Baguio, including UB’s president, Engr. Javier Bautista, UB’s VPAA Dr. Janice Lonogan, UB’s VP for Admin Atty. Rommel Ayson, and UBAFI president, Engr. Eleazer Demayo. The media asked various questions about the history of the university, its current state, and its plans for the upcoming 75th anniversary celebration.
President Engr. Javier Bautista discussed the history of the University of Baguio, starting from its humble beginnings as Baguio Central School in 1948 to its growth into a reputable higher education institution in the Cordillera region. He also talked about the university’s efforts in providing quality education to its students and its commitment to continuous improvement.

Dr. Janice Lonogan, UB’s VPAA, shared her insights on the current state of the university, including the programs and initiatives it has implemented to provide a better learning experience for its students.
