The University of Baguio is thrilled to announce that 10 students from the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts, under the coaching of Ms. Beverly Laltoog and in coordination with the Office of Student Affairs, secured 1st runner-up in the Story/Short Film category at the Festival of Stories. This prestigious event took place at the University of the Philippines Auditorium in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, and was organized by the Intellectual Property Circle 2024.
The Festival of Stories marks the culmination of the IP C.I.R.C.L.E. competition, celebrating creativity and raising awareness about intellectual property. The event featured outstanding entries from both The Ad and The Story competitions, recognizing the talents of students who contribute to the growing awareness of intellectual property protection. In addition, the event showcased a variety of activities that highlighted the remarkable skills of the participants.
In recognition of her exceptional talent, Ms. Princess Danielle P. Magno, who portrayed Hiraya in the short film Her Blue Moon, was honored with the Best On-Screen Performance award, presented by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.
The University of Baguio’s success at the Festival of Stories is a testament to its commitment to nurturing creativity and fostering a deeper understanding of intellectual property rights among its students. Winning 1st runner-up in the Story/Short Film category, along with the Best On-Screen Performance award, underscores the talent and dedication of the team, further solidifying the university’s reputation as a hub for innovation and artistic expression.

About the Film: “Her Blue Moon”
Her Blue Moon follows the inspiring journey of Hiraya, a young aspiring musician in the Philippines, who faces numerous challenges on her path to stardom. Despite financial struggles and the pressure from her parents to pursue a career in medicine, Hiraya remains committed to following her passion for music.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Hiraya is fired from her job at a local carinderia due to a misunderstanding. Seeking support, she confides in her best friend, Vangie, who encourages her to stand up for her artistic rights. The plot intensifies when Hiraya discovers that her song has been stolen by the famous pop star, Rosie J. Hiraya confronts the record label, refusing to let her work be exploited. In a surprising twist, Rosie J offers Hiraya the chance to open for her on tour, granting her creative control over her music.
The film culminates with Hiraya’s powerful performance on the tour’s opening night, where she earns the recognition she deserves. The film ends with Hiraya’s success symbolized by her appearance on the front page of a newspaper, marking her transformation from a struggling artist to a celebrated musician.
