Enhanced Global Learning and Partnerships: University of Baguio Joins FSTP and Erasmus+ Caravan

The University of Baguio continues to develop quality education and enhanced organizational metrics in the recent Foreign Scholarships and Training Program (FSTP) and Erasmus+ Caravan Luzon Leg, organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) International Affairs Service (IAS) in collaboration with CHED Regional Office I. The event brought together scholars, representatives from higher education institutions, and international stakeholders to explore global learning and capacity-building opportunities.

Held from October 22 to 23, 2025, at The Monarch Hotel in Calasiao, Pangasinan, dedicated members and representatives from the UB management were present at the event. Including International Students Officer from the Office of Student Affairs, Ms. Joanne Christine Fatima Uraga HRMC Associate for Learning and Development Mr. Kayzier Jan Baucas, Secretary of the Graduate School Programs, Ms. Jessa Mae Bustillo.

A Dedicated Event To Train Leaders of Tomorrow

The two-day event was led by Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, CESO III, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Deputy Executive Director, and Director-in-Charge of the CHED IAS. Atty. Milla emphasized the importance of academic mobility, international scholarships, and institutional partnerships in building a globally competitive educational system in the Philippines. The FSTP and Erasmus+ Caravan focused on providing information about various foreign scholarship and training opportunities aimed at enhancing the quality of education and fostering cross-border academic collaboration.

Prominent programs featured during the event were initiatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Stipendium Hungaricum (SH), Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), the Fulbright Program, and the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union. These global programs are designed to offer Filipino scholars and educators the chance to engage in international learning and development, strengthening both individual careers and global institutional capacities.

Initiatives for Globally Enhanced Academic Mobility

The FSTP offers Filipino educators, administrators, and professionals the chance to be eligible for scholarship and training opportunities abroad, while Erasmus+ is a European Union-funded program that promotes global academic mobility, global partnerships, and exchanges among universities and students in Europe and beyond. By participating in these initiatives, the University of Baguio aligns itself with international standards of education, ensuring that its academic members, management, and students gain access to global learning experiences.

In addition to the presentations and discussions, the event provided a platform for networking and establishing partnerships with foreign institutions. These collaborations are essential in creating a more interconnected and inclusive educational environment.
