A Milestone for Student Support: UB-CCSD Awarded Full R.A. 9258 Compliance Status

Written by Leny Estacio (Director, CCSD)

The University of Baguio marked a significant milestone in student support after being awarded full R.A. 9258 Compliance Status. Republic Act No. 8981, otherwise known as “PRC Modernization Act of 2000”, the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Guidance and Counseling, with the assistance of the Professional Regulation Commission – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRC-CAR) held a physical inspection and monitoring visit at the University of Baguio Center for Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) office last September 11, 2025.  The visit was led by Hon. Luzviminda S. Guzman (PRB Chairperson), and she was assisted by Hon. Elena V. Morada (PRB Member), Hon. Carmelita P. Pabiton (PRB Member,) and Ms. Ivy D. Gayon (PRC Representative).

The office operational plan, guidance programs, policies, and institutional profile were just a few of the documents presented and reviewed. Apart from going through the different requested documents, the inspecting visitors also discussed with the CCSD personnel particular aspects which can all the more strengthen the alignment of the different CCSD services and programs to Republic Act No. 9258, otherwise known as the “Guidance and Counseling Act of 2004.”

Resulting from this visit, the Professional Regulatory Board for Guidance and Counseling and the Professional Regulation Commission awarded the University of Baguio Center for Counseling and Student Development as fully compliant with the requirements of Republic Act 9258. This recognition serves as a testament to the commitment of UB-CCSD to be at the forefront in providing the support needed by each UBian student. More so, the recognition strengthens the motivation of the office to outdo what it has so far achieved.
