Breaking the Stigma: HIV/AIDS Awareness Month

In support of nurturing a supportive and healthy community, the University of Baguio (UB) School of Natural Sciences (SNS) will be hosting an HIV/AIDS Awareness Program on November 26, 2024 in celebration of HIV/AIDS Awareness Month.

Held in collaboration with the Department of Health Cordillera Administrative Regional Office, Baguio City Health Services Office, and the Medical Technology Interns’ Association, the event aims to educate the community about HIV and AIDS, reducing the stigma and encouraging openness about the virus.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and its advanced stage, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), are still considered by the World Health Organization to be a major global public health issue. In 2023, around 39 million people were found to be living with HIV. Stigma and discrimination against the condition continue to pose a challenge in providing life-saving services and proper education in communities all over the world. Addressing these issues and promoting open-mindedness will facilitate a healthier and more supportive environment for people living with HIV and AIDS.

The program will be taking place at the UB RCB Dome at 8:00 AM. Registration will be open at 7:30 AM.

We hope to see you there, UBians!
