Pines City National High School (PCNHS), June 28, 2024—the University of Baguio Voices Chorale (UBVC) conducted its MUSIKARAMAY II: ANG PAGKANTA AY PAGLALAKBAY in collaboration with the Research, Innovation, Extension, and Community Outreach (RIECO) and Office of Student Affairs (OSA). It is an annual free interactive workshop wherein this year’s participating choir is the Koro Pino of PCNHS.

The Project Musikaramay started last year in which the Baguio City National High School became the first participant. The vision of the project is to empower choirs around Baguio City by developing their potentials with knowledge and skills in the field of choral music. Moreover, it aims to share the learnings and experiences of the organizations and its members concerning rehearsals, competitions, and participation in various choral clinics.

Accordingly, Project Musikaramay embodies the fourth core SDG Agenda of UB, the Quality Education. The participants are not only enjoying the singing activities because, at the same time, they are gaining an education that helps them enhance their musical talents. Through the workshop, they can further develop a social bonding in which teamwork, organization, harmony, and synchronization are magnified.

During the program, there is a lecture session on the foundation of a choral organization by Harold Deane Piog, a UBVC representative. The training included in the workshop are vocalization training, and tutti training, which are headed by the UBVC Tenor Leader Gabriel Benabe Jamorabon and UBVC Choirmaster John Glenn Gaerlan, respectively. There is also the Choir Sectionals activity led by the UBVC Section leaders. An Open Forum Panel takes place after the activities to give way for the inquiries, clarifications or sharing of thoughts and learnings of the participants. The workshop ended with a blast as the UBVC showcased the musical pieces they performed during the Sing Tarlac, Sing Choral Festival and Competitions.

With the results of the evaluation, the project has undoubtedly accomplished its objectives, especially for the participants. It became an exciting avenue for the members to teach, inspire, and facilitate choral singers in developing their full potential individually and collectively. With the decades of experience of the UBVC in choral singing, the shared learnings are credible and remarkable, and the participants should not be missing out.
