After being put on hold for three long years, the 2023 University of Baguio College Intramurals kicked off with a bang as students filled the Cardinals Gym in support of their cheering teams and athletes.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has not been held since 2020 following restrictions on face-to-face classes and events. This year, the Intramurals have come back in full force to the deafening cheers of hundreds of excited students. In the spirit of providing balanced quality education in a fun learning environment, the opening program of the 2023 College Intramurals ushered in the beginning of a year of sports, physical fitness, and camaraderie.
Students sat packed along the bleachers to witness the highlight of the opening ceremonies: the Cheering Competition. Spearheaded by their team leaders and spurred on by their muses and mascots, the cheerers took to the upper bleachers and gave a rousing performance of cheers and silent drills to an exhilarated crowd of onlookers.
Coming in first place for the highly anticipated Cheering Competition is the School of Dentistry (SOD), which also won Best in Cheering Routine. Following closely behind are the School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) in 1st Runner-Up and the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) in 2nd Runner-Up.
STELA also won the title of Best Muse and Best Team Captain, coming in as 2nd Runner-Up for the Cheering Booth category. The School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) followed up as 1st Runner-Up, while SBAA took the lead and was named Champion of the Cheering Booth category.
The School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) nabbed the title of Best in Costume for their cheerers, while the School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS) swept up the Best Mascot award. Coming in 1st and 2nd Runner-Up for the mascot category are STELA and SIT respectively.
The Cheering Competition marks only the beginning of the 2023 College Intramurals. Watch out for more exciting sports events and competitions to come!
