The University of Baguio (UB) has officially sealed a partnership with the Universitas Duta Bangsa (UDB) of Surakarta, Indonesia, in its ongoing pursuit of meaningful relationships with other higher education institutions.

The two universities have joined forces to foster quality education, academic excellence, and a positive impact on the global community. The partnership was formalized on November 14, 2023, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both institutions via a virtual Zoom meeting.

The meeting was attended by UB President Javier Herminio Bautista and Vice President For Academic Affairs Janice Kaylyn Lonogan, as well as UDB President Associate Professor Dr. Singgih Purnomo and Vice Rector on International Affairs Rina Arum Prastyanti.

The academic partnership stipulates that the two universities will collaborate through the implementation of internship programs, the sponsorship of projects in Southeast Asian Studies (and other majors), and the implementation of joint research and development projects. UB and UDB collaborate in such fields to ensure that their students have access to academic opportunities that will help them become empowered future professionals.

The agreement further expanded its scope to mobilize both universities to take direct action on climate change that will have a positive impact on the environment by setting the goal of working together to meet the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. By doing this, the two universities hope to be able to inspire their staff, professors, and students to take part in activities and projects that protect the environment and combat climate change.

The collaboration is another move in the direction of the University of Baguio’s goals of facilitating student mobility and giving students access to the tools they need to have a thorough and engaging education throughout their academic careers.
