As the 2024 Paris Olympics come to a close, the University of Baguio is proud to congratulate two of its alumni for securing a coveted spot on the podium.
Olympians Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio both put up a fierce fight, showcasing their skill and strength at the semis and garnering bronze medals in their respective categories. Ms. Villegas played in the women’s boxing 50 kg category, while Ms. Petecio competed in the women’s 57 kg category. Both boxers are seasoned athletes who have cultivated rich careers in boxing, proving their exceptional dedication to the sport.
The university also congratulates its two other alumni, Mr. Eumir Felix Marcial and Mr. Carlo Paalam for representing the Philippines at the Olympics. Qualifying for such a prestigious sporting event is no easy feat, and their presence at the games signifies their grit and tenacity in the fight for global sports recognition. Mr. Marcial participated in the men’s 80 kg category, while Mr. Paalam competed in the men’s 57 kg category.
