In an excellent display of professionalism and the willingness to learn from the best industries around the world, forty-three (43) students from the School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) will be traveling to Thailand for an academic cross-border program with Centara Hotels and Resorts.
The University of Baguio (UB) does its utmost to train its students for the professional world by offering the very best opportunities for growth and development. The academic cross-border program was established in observance of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 10 Series of 2023, which provides the guiding principles for higher education institutions on how to conduct international internship programs. The university processes all of the necessary documents when arranging opportunities for students to have their internship abroad, submitting the requirements to the Regional Office in accordance with the requirements and qualifications set by CHED.
The university also takes care to select partner establishments that align with the goals of the program as well as the stipulations of CMO No. 10. Through a rigorous selection process, the university sifts through dozens of applications every year to ensure that its partner institutions are capable of providing excellent training to its students. Each qualifying company must be at least a three-star resort or hotel, ensuring that the industry standard students are exposed to is of the highest quality and adheres to the standards set by CHED.
Students from the SIHTM are also trained from their first year to be prepared for both local and international exposure. The university does its utmost to prepare students by providing services such as passport processing to ensure that they are able to access opportunities abroad. The school also does its utmost to educate its students by adjusting the learning curriculum to better reflect industry standards, training them to be able to keep up with the professional world.
