Research and development are key areas that the University of Baguio is proud to cultivate. As a center of academic excellence, nurturing the spirit of learning through research is integral to encouraging students as they grow to become young professionals. Research is an integral part of one’s academic journey, and it is necessary for building strong foundations that can support communities.

Through its dedication to promoting and encouraging research, the University of Baguio was presented with two exemplary awards by the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (CRHRDC), one for its participation, dedication, and support of the CRHRDC’s activities, and one for being the 2023 Outstanding Performing Health Research Member Institution in the Private Academe category.

The University of Baguio has been an active member of the CRHRCD since its inception, and it was one of twenty-four (24) higher education institutions (HEIs) that were eligible for the award. The university has won several awards from the CRHRCD in the past, but this distinction is special, as it is in recognition of the University of Baguio and its role in fostering research and development as a means to positively impact society and the greater community.

Mr. Jun Cariño Corpuz of the School of Natural Sciences (SNS), the chair of the Research Ethics Committee, and Ms. Maureen Madayag Sabalburo of the School of Nursing (SON), a member of the Research Utilization Committee, represented the university in accepting this grand honor. As members of the Consortium, they played an indispensable role in achieving this feat as they represented the university throughout the activities, seminars, and workshops that were conducted by the CRHRDC. In June, the university will be the host of this year’s research forum, continuing to fulfill its duty as a proud and active member of the organization.

As the university continues on its endless pursuit of excellence, it continues to support organizations such as the CRHRDC in its quest to build stable communities that make a positive impact on society at large.
