The University of Baguio, spearheaded by the Linkages Office ETEEAP Unit, recently welcomed representatives from Mountain Province State University (MPSU) for a benchmarking session on the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). The activity aimed to provide a platform for UB to share its proven practices to the academic team of MPSU, opening the floor for discussion and development in their ETEEAP department.
Representing MPSU were the Linkages and International Affairs Director, Dr. Karen Cue, the SABTI Dean, Dr. Elvin Rosario, the Director for Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Rhoda B. Galangco, along with several members of their faculty.

Held at the university’s Centennial Hall, the session was led by Ms. Leny Estacio, the Director of the Center for Counseling and Student Development, who served as the master of ceremonies. The activity kicked off with a welcome address from the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Janice Kaylyn Lonogan before launching into the program proper with an overview of the university’s ETEEAP operations led by Ms. Melanie Rulla-Saro, the Director of the Linkages Office. Her segment gave a comprehensive breakdown of UB’s current process structure from admission to graduation.

Following this, several university deans shared the university’s best practices in handling ETEEAP procedures. Dr. John Balanquit (School of Business Administration and Accountancy), Dr. Charisma Grace Lud-ayen (School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety), Dr. Elen Halover (School of Information Technology), and Ms. Jenelyn Magpatoc (School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management) each provided insights on how their respective schools align their academic standards with the current ETEEAP framework. Afterwards, Dr. Medardo Abarientos, the Director of the Admissions and Records Center, elaborated on the admission criteria, requirements, and procedure for prospective enrollees.

The latter half of the program was led by Dr. Kareen Leon, the Director of the Quality Assurance Office, and allowed the MPSU team to voice their queries to be answered by the members of the UB Management.

This collaborative activity affirmed UB’s dedication to making high-quality education accessible to the community. It also reinforces its commitment to academic synergy and the continued development of the educational sphere through mutual growth and cooperation. Initiatives such as these not only ensure that UB’s programs are well-maintained, up-to-date, and efficient, but they also ensure that it can assist its fellow higher education institutions in reaching the same golden standard when it comes to providing educational services.
