Women are a force to be reckoned with, but they are often regarded as less than they actually are. What they bring to the table is as important as their counterparts and should be given more recognition. Women should be seen. Women should be heard.

Coinciding with Women’s Month, the Junior Executive Circle (JEC) presented its own Zine centered around the University of Baguio-School of Business Administration and Accountancy (UB-SBAA) women’s experiences and stories about their inspirations, insecurities, relationships, and academics. Delving into these personal topics would be a tool to inspire and empower women and their readers, making them aware of different SBAA women’s thoughts, relating to them, and being empowered through their words. There were eight (8) SBAA women students who participated.

It was published online on International Women’s Day, an excellent way to uplift the hearts and minds of women, reminding them that they are not alone, supported, and not just women. They Are Women. They deserve to be seen. They deserve to be heard.

One of the contributors, Jean Angela C. Sarra, said in the Be Heard Zine, “I am a woman, and it is not a competition that I am looking for with my girls or others. I am advocating for a community where men and women lift up each other, where everyone is heard and loved.”

The Junior Executive Circle hopes to implore the students, the women, to speak up and be heard. Share stories that will empower and inspire, as the next generation of women will have someone to look up to when they find themselves lesser than who they are.

“From women. For women.”

This activity was spearheaded by some SBAA women student leaders who are also currently having their on-the-job (OJT) training in UB partner host training establishments (THE). This is in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 8 which aims to achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people by 2030. And, these SBAA women OJTs and leaders are the future workforce.
