Preparing students to take on the world beyond the four walls of the classroom is a key goal of the University of Baguio. Facilitating access to resources necessary to build up their repertoire of skills and proficiencies is paramount to ensuring that the next generation of professionals can address the needs of the community and the workplace with ease. UB is committed to making certain that it has a whole range of services and facilities that students and alumni can utilize to further their development.

To serve this purpose, the university has officially partnered with Pearson VUE to launch its very own accredited Testing Center. Pearson VUE is an organization that aims to provide English certification to its test-takers that can be used for educational, occupational, and immigration purposes. Through this testing facility, the university can now facilitate the PTE Academic, a computer-based English test that is geared towards assessing the speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills of takers on an academic level.

When formally certified, test-takers can be used to apply to international universities as an indicator of one’s English proficiency level. It can also be used to apply for work or migration visas in certain countries like Australia and New Zealand, opening a whole new realm of opportunities for test-takers to explore the world and garner experience on a global scale.

The launch was attended by the Pearson VUE Country Director Mr. Mark Flores, the Business Development Executive Ms. Lian Perdiguez, and the different deans and directors of the university’s schools and offices. The University of Baguio is the first institution in Northern Luzon to launch an accredited Pearson VUE testing center, and is the sixth (6th) PTE Academic Test Center to be opened nationwide.

The Pearson Vue Testing Center is located in the university’s F Building, just past the Dean’s Office of the School of Information Technology (SIT) and is open to both current students and alumni of UB.
