The University of Baguio celebrated with its international students on September 22, 2022 at the Centennial Hall as the newly built International Student Center (ICS) officially opens.

The official opening of the ICS started off with a gathering at the UB Centennial hall followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at the student center. Atty. Guillermo Dulay, was invited to speak and educate UB’s international students on the country’s immigration process. Representatives from CHED also attended the program namely, Dr. Demetrio Anduyan, Director IV for CHED-CAR, and Ms. Menzie Kuengan, CHED-CAR Supervising Education Program Specialist.

Mr. Aaron Black, CEO of ZIP Travel Philippines, and Dr. Janice Lonogan, UB’s VPAA, joined Ms. Kuengan and Atty. Dulay for the ribbon cutting ceremony right after the program.

UB accommodates students from all over the world, and in order to help these students have a place to relax, strengthen their spirituality, and just generally have a place for themselves, the university opens the international student center to help accommodate these needs.

The student center comes with a study area, a lounge, and a prayer room. UB hopes to help its international students stay connected with their faiths by giving them a place to properly worship while also giving them a safe space to rest.

Though the whole campus welcomes any and all students, the international student center serves as a spot to cater to the needs of foreign students that aren’t readily available around campus or even the city.
