It’s a five-peat victory! The University of Baguio (UB) was officially declared as the Overall Champion of the 35th Season of the Baguio Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL) by the league’s Technical Committee yesterday, June 25, 2025, during the official post-evaluation held at Saleng Hall, Admirals Farm Park, Pinalyok, Lamtang, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The announcement marks a fifth straight overall championship title for UB, solidifying its dominance in collegiate sports in the region. The university first clinched the title in Season 31 (2017–2018), followed by Season 32 (2018–2019), Season 33 (2019–2020), Season 34 (2023–2024), and now Season 35 (2024–2025).
UB’s student-athletes displayed unwavering excellence and consistency throughout the season, earning top finishes in various events including archery, badminton, basketball, chess, table tennis, sepak takraw, wushu, athletics boxing, judo, tennis, swimming, taekwondo, arnis and volleyball. With their collective efforts, the university amassed the highest overall points, outpacing other participating institutions in Baguio and Benguet.
“This milestone is a result of years of hard work, dedication, and teamwork,” said UB’s Athletic Director Jonel D. Sakiban. “We are proud of our athletes, coaches, UB Family and support staff for their commitment to raising the bar every season.”
The BBEAL Technical Committee officially confirmed the results during the season-end evaluation attended by league officials, and school representatives. The gathering also served as a platform to discuss improvements, proposed amendments, and future plans for the league’s continued growth.
As the curtains close on the 35th season, the University of Baguio stands tall — not just as a champion in points, but as a symbol of discipline, sportsmanship, and excellence in university athletics.
