Other Posts

Marking an integral milestone in its journey to provide balanced quality education at every level, the University of Baguio has officially been granted autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Following CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 07 Series of 2024, a total of seventy-seven (77) universities across the country were granted an autonomous status, while fifteen (15) universities were granted a deregulated status. UB is one of the three universities in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to be granted autonomy, with the other two universities being Saint Louis University (SLU) and the University of the Cordilleras (UC).

An autonomous status allows higher education institutions (HEIs) to establish new courses and programs for undergraduate and graduate degrees. This status is granted in accordance with the stipulations of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, as well as the observance of Republic Act (RA) No. 7722, the “Higher Education Act of 1994”.

The autonomous and deregulated status granted to these esteemed universities will be valid from September 16, 2024 to September 15, 2027.

Congratulations to the University of Baguio for this momentous achievement!
