UB Garners Notable Merits in Times Higher Education Ranking

The University of Baguio, alongside its commitment to providing balanced quality education, is also dedicated to making a positive impact on the greater community. Through a variety of community outreach programs and social inclusion initiatives, the university is able to contribute to the betterment of society, ensuring that it goes above and beyond its duty in education and meaningfully impacts the world around it.

In recognition of the university’s efforts, the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings have placed UB among the 1,001-1,500 universities in the global ranking, while in the overall Philippine ranking it garnered a 5th Place ranking. A significant achievement, considering that it is UB’s first time applying for the ranking. The results were released on June 12, 2024 and included almost two thousand universities from more than a hundred countries all over the world.

The THE Rankings measure a university’s commitment to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It takes into account the contributions of each university to the different categories of the SDGs, recognizing each university’s efforts to support social and community development through its outreach programs and initiatives.

The University of Baguio garnered the following rankings for each category of the SDGs:

  • No. 1 (No Poverty): 401-600
  • No. 2 (Zero Hunger): 601-800
  • No. 3 (Good Health and Well-Being): 601-800
  • No. 4 (Quality Education): 1001-1500
  • No. 5 (Gender Equality): 1001+
  • No. 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation): 601-800
  • No. 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy): 801+
  • No. 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): 1001+
  • No. 10 (Reduced Inequalities): 1001+
  • No. 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): 801-1000
  • No. 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): 601-800
  • No. 13 (Climate Action): 601-800
  • No. 14 (Life Below Water): 401-600
  • No. 15 (Life on Land): 401-600
  • No. 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions): 401-600
  • No. 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): 1501+

UB’s proud accomplishment in the THE Rankings marks a significant milestone in the university’s journey to meaningfully contribute to the world around it. As UB continues to grow as an institution, it will continue to make an effort to enact positive change both to the local community of Baguio and the Philippines and to the international community.
