Everyone in the UB delegation to the CAR ASEAN Competition of CHED emerged as victors.
In celebration of the CHED-ASEAN Month Celebration, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) organized regional competitions this August where higher education institutions (HEIs) and their students can participate and showcase their writing, performance, and art skills. The University of Baguio is one of the invited HEIs by CHED CAR.
Now on its 54th year, the theme of this year’s conference which was held online due to safety protocols is “We Care—We Prepare—We Prosper”, a play on Julius Caesar’s popular Latin phrase, the theme revolves around our collective efforts, resilience, and creativity in dealing with the ongoing Covid-19 situation as a member of the ASEAN community.
The University of Baguio won in all categories attended, including two First Prize finishes in the individual category. John Rev Gat-eb topped the Spoken Word Poetry category, while Joshua Nico Bati won the Essay Writing contest.
The Online Chorale Competition also won First Place for their heartwarming rendition of the competition quiz. The members are Karl Camillo, Raian Geronimo Garcia, Harold Deane Piog, Milagros Guinsad, Heather Mendita, Sneha Shaneal Fernandez, Shawn Francis Viernes, Charmaine Sampaga, Aster Theresse Laigo, Gabriel Jamorabon, Rayah Jahziel Tayag, and Adrian Jude Benter.
