The University of Baguio (UB) proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of its athletes who represented the Philippines at the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held in Cambodia. These UBian athletes showcased their exceptional skills, determination, and sportsmanship, bringing home several gold, silver, and bronze medals in various disciplines.
In the field of boxing, UB’s athletes displayed their prowess and dominance. Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam emerged as champions, clinching the gold medals in their respective weight divisions. Their exceptional performances exemplified their dedication to their craft and the rigorous training they underwent. Joining them on the podium were Irish Magno and Norlan Petecio, who secured silver medals in their respective weight categories, further adding to the Philippines’ boxing triumph.




Kickboxing proved to be another strong suit for UB’s athletes, with Claudine Veloso emerging as the gold medalist in her discipline. Her outstanding performance showcased her technical expertise and unwavering determination.

In the discipline of Muay Thai, UB’s athletes demonstrated their strength and skill, earning an impressive collection of bronze medals. Felix Cantotes, Jomar Balangui, Daryl Chulipas, Jerlyn Kingad, and Jenelyn Olsim showcased their talent and resilience, making the university proud with their remarkable achievements. Adding to this, history was also made by Islay Erica Bomogao who became the first Filipina World Champion at the 3034 IFMA (INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF MUAYTHAI ASSOCIATIONS) Senior World Championship.





UB’s representation in Arnis also made a notable impact, with Ezekyl Habig and Mackjohn Niel Pineda each claiming a bronze medal. Their performances showcased the rich Arnis heritage of the Philippines and their dedication to preserving and promoting this traditional martial art.


Jeordan Dominguez, a Taekwondo athlete from UB, contributed to the medal haul with a bronze medal in his weight division. His tenacity and skill were evident as he competed against top-notch opponents from the region.

In the realm of badminton, Christel Rei Fuentespina showcased her talent and determination, earning a bronze medal for the Philippines. Her outstanding performance demonstrated her skill and sportsmanship on the court.
