In support of building a global community that transcends physical boundaries and distance, the university warmly welcomed a delegation of students and faculty members from Jining Polytechnic and Linyi University, marking the formal beginning of their participation in the university’s exchange program.

The welcome event was held at the UB Centennial Hall, with several key members of the university management team being present to lend their support and express their regard for the significant occasion. Following an opening number from the UB Voices Chorale and a welcome presentation from the UB Bibak Ubbun Kaafuan (UBBUK), UB President Engr. Javier Herminio Bautista gave an opening address that conveyed the university’s eager enthusiasm to host such esteemed guests.

After the opening remarks, key members of the university’s different offices took to the podium to deliver integral information on their different services and functions. The Admission and Records Center briefed the students on the admission process for the exchange students, while the Office of Student Affairs delved into the many planned activities that international students were welcome and encouraged to participate in.

The Center for Counseling and Student Development also discussed their services, both general and specially catered to foreign students. The Library, Linkages Office, and the Research, Innovation, Extension and Community Outreach (RIECO) also delivered integral information on their student support resources that were open to the exchange students.

Following the enlightening orientation portion, a video presentation prepared by the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts was shown covering the English Language and Philippine Culture programs, the main highlight of the special curriculum that the exchange students will be learning during their stay with the university.

The event ended with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Janice Kaylyn Lonogan delivering the closing remarks, once again conveying the university’s dedication to delivering balanced quality education to students from all walks of life. Shortly afterwards, the students and faculty members were treated to a smattering of Filipino snacks, or merienda, which they enjoyed for the rest of the afternoon before leaving for a tour of the campus.

The University of Baguio is thrilled to host students from Jining Polytechnic and Linyi University, and it hopes to continue being a welcoming community to foreign students from all over the world.
