In a brilliant display of excellence and skill, third-year BA Communication student Mr. Aiken Eugenrig Ramos from the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) secured several distinctions at the recently concluded World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) 2024.
Deemed the “Talent Olympics” for the performing arts, the WCOPA is a gathering of gifted performers and entertainers from all over the world. With contestants being screened from the US, Canada, Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, and South Africa, the annual event sets a grand stage for aspiring artists to be able to showcase their skills and passion. The Philippines has been participating since 2005, producing generations of world champions such as Jed Madela (2005), 4th Impact (2006), and Junior New System (2016).
Entering the ranks of the Filipino champions, Mr. Ramos concluded the 2024 WCOPA with high spirits and an array of awards to speak for his exemplary performance at the competition, which was held last June 28 – July 6, 2024 in Long Beach California. His achievements include a gold medal in Vocal Rap with Accompaniment, a silver medal in Acting for Television, a silver medal in original Song works, a gold plaque as the Division Champion of the World in Vocal Rap with Accompaniment, and a silver badge as a Semi-Finalist in WCOPA 2024.
Mr. Aiken Ramos exemplifies the University of Baguio’s ideals of producing highly competent and globally competitive individuals. He is a remarkable example of how far passion and dedication can go, and his journey is a testament to perseverance and the power of aspiring to do great things within one’s lifetime. He serves as an inspiration to the many budding young artists of the university and continues to represent the university and the country with pride and dignity.
