The University of Baguio Job Fair 2024 served as the culminating career and placement event for graduating students and alumni. This was held at the vibrant University of Baguio Cardinals Gym last May 3, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The career-related activity was meticulously organized by the UB Center for Counseling and Student Development. The event transcended a mere job-hunting activity and converged opportunities, aspirations, and connections.
Dr. Janice K. Lonogan, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, set an inspirational tone for the day through her opening remarks. The symbolic ribbon cutting, initiated by the University of Baguio President, Engr. Javier Herminio D. Bautista, alongside the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Janice K. Lonogan, Ms. Leny O. Estacio, RGC, Director of the Center for Counseling and Student Development, the rest of the CCSD personnel and the representatives from each participating company, marked the official commencement of the event.
Labor Laws were then shared by Ms. Charlotte Yasmin Posadas Tolentino of the Department of Labor-CAR which are essential to job preparedness. After which, the participating students and alumni were given the “go” signal to visit the tables of the participating companies and government agencies. Their presence not only signaled employment opportunities but also underscored a commitment to nurturing the region’s professional landscape. More so, the event was overseen by representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment-CAR and Baguio City Public Employment Office.
As the day unfolded, the event displayed the engagement between the UBian students and the esteemed partner companies and government agencies. It then ended with a celebration of partnerships through the awarding of the certificates of appreciation to the participating companies and government agencies, a testament to their unwavering dedication and contribution to the realization of the university’s objective to provide sustainable student programs that promote functional industry partnership and student employability.
