Changing Narratives, Starting Conversations: UB Participates in World Suicide Prevention Day

Other Posts

The University of Baguio deeply values the mental health and wellbeing of its students, faculty, and staff members. Building a community that can offer strong foundational support to its members is of the highest priority for the university, ensuring that its constituents always have access to resources and help wherever they need it.

This year on September 10, 2024, the university will be participating in World Suicide Prevention Day. With the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide – Start the Conversation”, the event is a call to action geared towards raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging and facilitating open conversations aimed at reducing the risk of suicide. With over 700,000 deaths per year being caused by suicide, now more than ever the importance of shedding light on the issue and addressing it directly is integral to building a community that can help and support those that might be struggling.

The UB community is enjoined to wear yellow on the 10th to symbolize their support for the World Suicide Prevention Day. Come along on the university’s journey to change the narrative, and start a conversation with those that need a helping hand.
