Bringing opportunities closer to its students is one of the important goals of the University of Baguio. Being able to present different avenues for growth and development is integral for supporting UB’s goal of nurturing globally competitive individuals who can address the shifting needs of an ever-evolving world.

In support of this purpose, the School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) recently hosted an exclusive BRIDGE USA Career Fair in collaboration with Zip Travel Philippines and the Ritz Carlton – Amelia Island, connecting students to industry professionals and accessible international opportunities.

The Ritz Carlton – Amelia Island is a world-class luxury hotel that has hosted students from the university under the J1 Visa program of the Department of State. Alongside Zip Travel Philippines, they have played an integral part in honing the skills of countless interns, continuing to be an integral partner of the university in its journey to provide balanced quality education at every level.

The Career Fair saw in attendance Mr. Aaron Black, the CEO of Zip Travell Philippines, who opened the program with an aspirational speech encouraging the students to pursue this new step in their academic careers. Following this, the representative of Alliance Abroad Ms. Natalie Anderson gave an important talk delving into the preparations and assessments that go into applying for the international program.

Staff members from the Ritz Carlton – Amelia Island were also present, with Club Manager Ms. Kathy Jeffers and Executive Sous Chef Mr. Zane Nesbitt giving an overview of the hotel’s many amenities and facilities. This insightful overview lent the students a glimpse of what the hospitality industry in the United States looks like, giving them an idea of what is in store for them when they decide to sign up for the program.

The Career fair also saw in attendance UB President Engr. Javier Herminio Bautista, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Janice Kaylyn Lonogan, the SIHTM Dean Ms. Jenelyn Mangangey-Magpatoc, and Linkages Office Director Ms. Melanie Rulla Saro. The university delegation gave a warm welcome to the guests, with Dr. Lonogan leading the celebratory toast that concluded the event proper.

The career fair was an overall success, and it marks a meaningful milestone in UB’s journey to foster empowered professionals who can navigate the global community with ease. The university’s partnership with Zip Travel Philippines and the Ritz Carlton – Amelia Island continues to provide invaluable opportunities for the students, opening up a whole new realm of possibilities for those seeking to expand their worldviews and refine their skills in preparation for the professional world.
