The University of Baguio recently concluded its two-day Management Planning event, held on June 14 and 15, 2023, at The Plaza Lodge in Baguio City. The event brought together the University’s management team, led by President Engr. Javier Herminio D. Bautista, to reflect on the achievements of the previous academic year and chart a course for the future. With a focus on enhancing international presence, fostering professional development, and strengthening community relations, the management planning aimed to ensure academic excellence and global distinctiveness for the University of Baguio.

President Engr. Javier Herminio D. Bautista commenced the Management Planning with an uplifting message. He expressed his gratitude to the dedicated employees of the University of Baguio and acknowledged the leadership of the Management Team for their contributions to the fruitful and productive School Year 2022-2023. The President was delighted with the increase in enrollment from Basic to Higher Education and the exceptional performance of programs in board examinations. He also recognized the successful activities conducted in various schools and offices, the accreditation achievements, and the university’s notable ranking in the World Ranking With Real Impact (WURI).

Key Focus Areas for Academic Year SY 2023-2024

During the management planning, President Bautista outlined three crucial areas of focus for the upcoming academic year:

  1. Strengthening International Presence: The University of Baguio aims to enhance its global distinctiveness by expanding its international presence. This objective involves establishing collaborations with renowned academic institutions, fostering student and faculty exchange programs, and participating in global research and innovation initiatives. By embracing internationalization, the university seeks to offer its students a truly global learning experience and strengthen its reputation on the international stage.
  2. Promoting Professional Development: Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and growth, President Bautista encouraged employees to pursue professional development in their respective fields. By investing in their expertise and skills, the university aims to enhance productivity and job satisfaction among its workforce. Professional development programs, workshops, and seminars will be provided to support staff and faculty members in their pursuit of excellence.
  3. Engaging in Community Relations: The University of Baguio understands the value of meaningful community relationships. President Bautista emphasized the need to foster deeper and stronger connections with the university’s stakeholders. By actively engaging with the local community, the university aims to contribute to societal development, address community needs, and establish mutually beneficial partnerships. The two-day management planning event also included in-depth discussions on the accomplishments of the three key councils: the Administration Council, Academic Council, and Finance Council. Each council shared their achievements, assessments of the Institutional Development Plan, and presented strategies, programs, goals, and performance indicators for the upcoming academic year, SY 2023-2024. These deliberations allowed for a comprehensive evaluation of the University’s progress and enabled the management team to identify areas that require improvement and formulate targeted action plans.
