Strengthening Professional Pathways through ETEEAP with NCIP-CAR

Other Posts

The University of Baguio, spearheaded by the Linkages Office, recently conducted a hybrid orientation and information dissemination session on the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) for employees of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples – Cordillera Administrative Region (NCIP–CAR).

Led by Director Ms. Melanie Rulla Saro and ETEEAP staff member Ms. Jera Cachapero, this initiative was made possible through the generous invitation and coordination of Atty. Ronald Calde and his dedicated team at NCIP-CAR. The session was attended by the NCIP personnel stationed across various parts of the Cordillera region, reflecting their commitment to professional development and inclusive education.

The orientation was particularly timely in light of the recent enactment of Republic Act (RA) No. 12124, which was signed into law by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on March 3, 2025. This legislation institutionalizes the ETEEAP and provides funding to expand its implementation across the country.

ETEEAP offers an alternative pathway for individuals with extensive work experience, skills, and prior learning to earn a bachelor’s degree without completing a traditional college education. By recognizing and accrediting non-formal and experiential learning, the program empowers professionals—especially those in public service—to formalize their competencies, enhance their qualifications, and further contribute to national development.

The University of Baguio expresses its sincere gratitude to the NCIP–CAR for organizing this meaningful session. We commend their unwavering support for inclusive, accessible, and lifelong learning opportunities for all, particularly for Indigenous Peoples and underserved communities.
