The University of Baguio Center for Counseling and Student Development (UB-CCSD) kicked off its annual Love and Wellness Celebration with a Webinar Series on February 8, 2025, from 8:15 AM to 11:30 AM via Zoom video conferencing platform. The kick-off event brought together members of the UB community for a lively exploration of responsible use of social media, fostering relationships, drug education and substance use prevention, and subscription to enthusiasm for progress, living, and learning.

Experts in the field were invited to facilitate specific topics: Ms. Cinderella Ronalyn E. Cubacub, RGC, Head of the Guidance Office at the University of the Cordilleras, delivered a thought-provoking presentation on “Responsible Subscriptions: Social Media & Relationships” where the negative impacts of social media use on interpersonal relationships were highlighted. Further, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit (PNP DEG SOU) Cordillera added valuable insights to the event. Police Lieutenant Monette P. Gamdutan, Chief of Police Community Relations presented an interesting discussion on drug education and substance abuse prevention, highlighting the severe negative consequences on one’s overall well-being. The session concluded with an inspiring Q&A led by Patrolman Ysrael Butale where relatable and true-to-life stories were shared.

In addition to the engaging plenary talks, the event featured breakout sessions tailored to specific university populations: Academic Scholars, Other Scholars, Students under the Contract of Agreement Follow-up Program, and a combined group of General Population and Students with Special Rights. These targeted sessions allowed participants to explore topics relevant to their unique needs. Breakout Sessions 1 and 2 focused on strategies for sustaining enthusiasm for progress among Academic and Other Scholars. Breakout Session 3 explored ways for Students under the COA program to discover new enthusiasm for learning and unlocking their potential. Lastly, Breakout Session 4 emphasized maintaining an enthusiasm for living a balanced life while prioritizing wellness among the General Population and Students with Special Rights.

This event marked a wonderful start to embracing responsible life choices in 2025. It was an enriching experience that encouraged participants to prioritize their well-being while nurturing stronger relationships within the vibrant UB community, supporting the CCSD’s mission to support the holistic development of UBians.
