The Simplistic Behavior
DANIELLE, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING
This week we’re touching base with where it all started – simplicity, the very foundation of elegance.
Simplicity is all about the basics, and by basics we mean sartorial elegance with a minimalistic edge.
Taking time off from her hospital duties, Danielle helps us round up three of the chicest ensembles built on clean, simple aesthetics.
Caught the fashion bug at: 16
Style icon: Leighton Meester
Comfort track: “There’s No Way” by Lauv feat. Julia Michaels
Listens to a lot of: New Wave, RnB
Binge-watches: Friends, 2 Broke Girls
Binge-reads: “The Catastrophic History of You and Me” by Jess Rothenberg
Comfort activity: Making time for myself by working out and listening to music
Favorite style item: Shades! Shades keep everything in style!
Style principle: Elegance will never be out of style.
Whether you like buying into trends or prefer to stick with the basics, pastel is timeless. A monochromatic number is one way of styling pastel. Mixing it with dark-colored pieces, like our featured ensemble here, is another way of wearing the soft tone. In making your pastel piece pop, remember to keep the rest of your color palette simple. You may also add a little edge to the softness of the pastel with bright, fun accessories.
Danielle did ballet in her childhood, and it somehow carried though.
The December cold is definitely on, so dig up those cold season basics.
Keep in mind that a poised and polished outfit covers the basic color palette. It’s also built on unfussy volumes.
The sporty get-up can’t be out of the list. It’s fully functional and it’s nothing but comfortably snug.
Stripped-down aesthetics, reduced hues, basic color palette with a few touches of color – these are the foundation of elegance, the kind where simplicity is emphasized... As Coco Chanel put it, simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance. x
