Double the Fun

JEANIE & DIETHER, SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE

So the Holidays are over and probably we’re all broke but dressing up doesn’t have to be on a low mood, yes?

Jeanie and Diether here are BFFS, first and foremost, and together they share some deep interest for style.

Dressing up is so much fun, you guys. But dressing up with your BFF is  – you know what they say – a lot more fun.

JEANIE, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

Currently addicted to: Random vlogs

Binge-watches: Vlogs

Listens to a lot of: Pop

Comfort track: “Gorgeous” by Taylor Swift

Comfort activity: Finding pieces in thrift shops and secondhand stores. You bet it's my stress reliever.

Caught the fashion bug at: 16

Style principle: Be who you are. Embrace your individuality. And keep in mind that smile and confidence will never be out of style.

Style history: My mom loved dressing me up when I was little. I guess that influenced my love for style and dressing up today.

Favorite style item: Palazzo pants. I love pairing a pair with anything. I look tall in it.

Favorite go to look/3-piece style: Palazzo pants, mesh top, and sneakers

Style icon: Verniece Enciso

DIETHER, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE

Listens to a lot of: Pop, pop rock, alternative rock, indie

Comfort track: “Somebody Else” by The 1975

Binge-watches: Stranger Things

Comfort activity: Doing sketches

Style principle: You don’t always need to blend in. Stand out in your own unique way. I love everything about fashion, and one aspect that fascinates me the most is styling, because you have the freedom to put the pieces together in whatever way you want. and to pull off a style, you've got to wear it with confidence.

Style history: I was not very stylish back then, that's for sure, until I discovered fashion/lifestyle bloggers David Guison, Miko Carreon, and Adam Gallagher. You can say I derived my style through their blogs. Now I think I am more aware about what makes me look good, and I know that because it makes me feel good.

The key to an on-point casual dressing is covering the basics such as white/striped tee, denim/khaki bottoms, and sneakers.

Jeanie’s and Diether’s outfits are impressively streamlined. When sleek, simple minimalist style is done right, it can make more of an impact than even the loudest of outfits.

One thing you didn’t know about Jeanie’s pieces for this feature is that they were purchased from a thrift store.

Legitimately stylish souls will troll any – and we mean any – store with zero snob factor, yet they manage to find something.

Case in point: Dressing up doesn’t have to be always costly. Happy New Year, you guys! xx
